Abcoude/Breda (Netherlands), 25 October 2002 – Beun de
Ronde (supplier of laboratory instruments) and LabWing (ASP for the laboratory
industry) announce to have reached an agreement on a strategic alliance. LabWing
brings in dedicated ICT expertise that enables Beun de Ronde to offer its customers
more comprehensive solutions. The alliance is expected to offer LabWing an important
additional market coverage. Both companies stay independent.
Asked for the motivation of this alliance, Mike Klinkenberg (managing director
of Beun de Ronde) commented: "Particularly in the top segment of the market
our customers become more demanding than before. While supplying and installing
instrumentation we are increasingly asked to provide supporting software as
well, mainly interfaces between instruments and LIMS, and web-based applications.
LabWing is our first choice to provide us with that expertise."
An additional aspect in the agreement is the fact that Luc Scholtis, managing
director of LabWing BV, will become a board member of Beun de Ronde with broad
executive tasks. His management expertise (ACE, BCO, Analytico) will be used
to adapt the organizational and financial policies at Beun de Ronde towards
a better fit into the extended mission of supplying comprehensive solutions.
Scholtis: "Such an alliance of course must be dealt with in a careful
manner and demands for an adequate division of tasks. Mikes skills are undoubtedly
more commercially oriented and well suited to develop future sales and marketing
strategies. My experience on the other hand concerns mainly the internal processes,
so I will focus particularly on organization and finance."
Beun de Ronde and LabWing both maintain their independent status. Klinkenberg:
'We better first concentrate on getting this strategic alliance working profitably;
so for the time being that is what we intend to focus on.
During 'Het Instrument' – the laboratory trade fair in the Utrecht Jaarbeurs
from 4 till 8 November 2002 – both companies will be present in a joint
stand (number 12C4).
Beun de Ronde B.V. is one of the first, still independent
suppliers of laboratory instrumentation in the Netherlands. The company was
founded in 1921 and employs 44. Operating on three locations (Abcoude, Brussels
and Paris), Beun de Ronde specializes in supplying both general laboratory instruments
and sophisticated specialist instrumentation, with growing attention for life
sciences and biotechnology.
LabWing B.V. is a young company specializing in developing
software solutions for the laboratory industry, with particular emphasis on
web-based services. The service offering comprises software for analytical processes
(interfaces, data processing) as well as applications with a more logistic-commercial
functionality (on-line quotations, cost accounting, order entry, result reporting
etc.).
