Breda (Netherlands) April 27 2007 – LabWing established a connection between the LIMS systems of two Belgian laboratories, Laboratorium ECCA N.V. en Biotox BVBA. Linking these systems of different makes implies that from now on a fully automatic exchange of data between both labs can take place.
By installing its LabBox, LabWing – developer of software and web applications for the laboratory sector – established a coupling of the two different LIMS of the Flemish laboratories ECCA (Merelbeke) en BioTox (Jabbeke). The linking concerns a Unilab LIMS system (by Siemens) and CynopCis’ LimITs system.
By linking both systems a fully automated data exchange can take place, enabling for instance the outsourcing of analysis orders in both directions. The LabBox allows labs operating at different locations to automatically forwarding orders to a specific facility, thus optimizing the use of capacity and resources, and enabling production at the lowest costs.

 | Installation of the LabBox, a local server establishing the coupling with external communication systems – like another LIMS or the internet – by means of the specifically developed software application LabCommunicator®, can be a first step in the phase prior to implementing Labs-of-Time®, a comprehensive set of web applications that facilitates the communication between labs and their customers in a highly effective way, including forwarding analysis orders and the delivery of analysis reports.

This is the first time a Labs-of-Time® module is being deployed for optimizing inter-laboratory processes. This new development creates possibilities for laboratories to exchange data on a worldwide level, which opens a realistic and commercially interesting perspective for both technical and operational co-operation within the laboratory network of multinational corporations.

Additional info on Labs-of-Time®
Labs-of-Time® is a web application enabling labs and their customers to communicate, either through dedicated (client-specific) or shared (collective) channels. The product comprises several modules that as a whole cover the entire electronic communication – van service requests and order entry, via analytical process en data transfer to definitive reports and invoicing.
