Next to the play upon words the name was also chosen because of the various associations that are raised by the lapwing - visually as well-. Of course it is the bird's silhouette with that typical little crest that makes you recognize our logo very easily.
And we have other motives as well, listen....
With the typical dutch image of the bird, we refer to the impressive Dutch' presence in the international analytical scene. And, in the same breeze, we raise the image of a healthy environment with grazing cows, beautiful grass-lands and wealthy fields.
The tradition of the presentation of the first lapwing egg to the Queen (in 1969 this tradition has been stopped upon her request) brings the association with LabWing's valuable output, the 'delicacy', for those who know to find us...
And of course, what about the behaviour of the bird: working very late at night, without any tiredness (like we do) and the fact that the bird almost inhabits a 'virtual' nest : a small hole with some grasses and blades.
A dotcom company not necessarily stands for expensive and stylish offices and other materialistic luxury: what counts is the virtual nest at the internet - the websites - and the services that we provide.
Finally, 'lab wing' may be seen like the analysis department of a company, let's say like 'the wing of the lab'. Seems to be a bit cryptic? Please come to visit our site more frequently and find out what we aim at in the long term!
