Due to the rapid growth of our Labs-of-Time® platform, and the resulting expansion of our cloud solutions we are looking for a motivated:

Systems Administrator

Innovative Laboratory Server Farm

Your job involves:
  • Developing, maintaining, securing and tuning SQL Server databases for managing the underlying data structures of our websites.
  • Fulfilling the combined responsibilities of operational manager, architect, project manager and consultant.
  • Providing technical designs for architecture, data models and databases.
  • Proposing improvements to database services and executing related optimization projects (e.g. stored procedures, data models).
  • Delivering ready-made solutions to performance issues.
  • Maintaining up-to-date SQL Server documentation (including Disaster Recovery).
  • Acting as point of contact for all database-related questions from the development team.
  • Advising on implementation choices and approaches.
We are looking for:
  • An independent, intelligent, positive and motivated worker who cares deeply about the functional and technical management of databases, and who can serve as co-designer and developer of SQL Server systems.
  • Someone who not only focuses on technology, but also understands and translates the needs of laboratory practice.
  • Relevant college or university education.
  • 2–3 years of experience as a DBA for MS SQL Server.
  • Multiple years of experience in the IT industry as a database specialist.
  • MCDBA certification for MS SQL Server.
  • Affinity with the laboratory world and its specific requirements.
  • Experience with T-SQL, triggers and stored procedures.
  • Affinity with Microsoft products.
  • Knowledge of BI and ETL tools, VB.NET and ASP.NET.
  • Knowledge of MS Reporting Services.
  • Good command of English and Dutch.
  • Ability to read program flows to identify issues (e.g. stored procedures) is a strong plus.
